The Seven Stars Foundation, Inc. would like to honor to all our Veterans, past and present, on this Veteran’s Day. And a special thankyou to the crew of Morphine One-Two, for your service and may you all rest in peace and continue to watch over us!
The Seven Stars Foundation, Inc.’s mission is to assist the children of military members who are wounded or have fallen while serving our country. The past two summers we have sent 41 of these little heroes to a week’s summer camp in Big Bear to help them cope and bond. At first glance, these children do not look any different from the other children there, but they are, you just can’t see it. They suffer from a life-long ailment that is hidden and is heavy. It cannot be cured with medication, doctor visits, will not go into remission, or go away with time. It is called a broken heart. When a child loses a parent, the diagnosis is instant: a life-long broken heart and forever wondering why their loved one was taken from them at a time when they needed them the most. Sometimes the only cure is to bond with another child who is experiencing that same void. It becomes their safe zone where they can share thoughts and feelings that could not be shared with others who have never experienced that same loss. When we look at a charity to donate to, we usually pick ones that are close to our hearts and interests, especially when it comes to children. We look at the ones that cure diseases that could possibly affect our own child or that have affected our family or someone we know. So when you decide to donate this year, look beyond the obvious and help the child with the hidden ailment. We are setting our goal this summer to send 40 children to camp. We need your help to make this happen and to give them a week of being in a safe zone with new friends. It is not the size of your donation that counts, it the size of your heart!
